ArchivalResource

Transcripts of reports regarding claims for Revolutionary War service, 1783-1822.

These transcripts were prepared by the clerk of the assembly in response to an assembly resolution of April 8, 1819, directing him to collect and transcribe specified records for reference by the legislature. Transcripts were written between 1819 and 1823. The compiled records document petitions and compensation awarded to individuals for Revolutionary War service or for losses resulting from the war. Most records are reports to the Assembly by committees or commissions who made decisions concerning petitions for bounty lands or for monetary compensation.
